QazaqGazNational Company’s board chair, Sanzhar Zharkeshov yesterday briefed the Kazakhstani head of state on the progress of key natural gas pipeline projects in the country amid the growing demand for natural gas.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Zharkeshov to discuss the company's activities for the past nine months and future plans. During the meeting, Zharkeshov outlined the company's recent accomplishments, including the completion of several major infrastructure projects.

These projects included the construction of a second gas pipeline between Almaty and Talgar, widely known as the Almaty -Baiserke -Talgar gas pipeline, and gas infrastructure for two power plants (TPP 2 and TPP 3) in the city.

Although the two pipeline projects in Almaty have been completed, the construction of a new gas pipeline connecting Taldykorgan and Usharal is ongoing.

QazaqGaz has been expanding its resource base over the past months to meet the growing demand for natural gas. The company has attracted foreign investment in geological prospecting and signed an agreement with Chevron to explore gas in the Aktobe region.

Zharkeshov also discussed the company's collaboration with the Energy and National Economy Ministries to increase the investment attractiveness of the gas sector and offer affordable tariffs and wholesale gas prices.
