BIL (Bundesweites Informationssystem zur Leitungsrecherche), the first nation-wide web-portal for line information in Germany to allow "one-call" functionality, went live on the 29th of February 2016. More than 100 guests took part in the official event at the Red Dot Design Museum in the area of Zeche Zollverein in Essen. For the moment nearly 80 percent of the pipelines in all 16 federal states of Germany are integrated. In addition the first multi-utilities have joined BIL.

The BIL eG has been founded on 15 June 2015 by 17 German pipeline operators as a non-profit organisation. Their objective is to increase pipeline safety during construction and supporting digital work processes in the energy sector by offering free and comprehensive digital line information for the construction industry. Under the legal form of a registered cooperative (eG) BIL is inviting line operators of all supply segments to participate in the BIL organization as members and users.

BIL is exhibitor at the 11th Pipeline Technology Conference in Berlin and will give a project update within the conference program.
