Turkmenistan Delegates Visit Pakistan for Talks to Expedite TAPI Gas Pipeline Project

Pakistani Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, met with Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in Islamabad on Wednesday, July 24, to discuss the expedition of the delayed TAPI gas pipeline

The iconic two-day visit to Pakistan signifies a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations, which are jointly working on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) pipeline project. 

Minister Meredov was accompanied were high-ranking Turkmenistan officials, including Mr. Ata Haljanov, head of the International Economic Cooperation Division, and Mr. Eziz Nazarov from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During their meeting, which focused majorly on the gas pipeline project, Dr. Malik emphasized that the project would reduce energy costs, stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and foster economic development. 

With access to reliable and affordable energy crucial for both countries’ industrial sectors and overall economic stability, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the TAPI project, recognizing its significance for regional energy cooperation and infrastructure development. 

During the meeting, Muhammetmyrat Amanov, CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited, highlighted the project’s progress, thanks to the special interest of the petroleum minister and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Officials from Pakistan and Turkmenistan underscored the strategic importance of the TAPI project in enhancing regional connectivity, promoting economic growth, and meeting energy demands. Their commitment to continued cooperation aims to overcome any remaining challenges.
