Turkish Pipe Producer Borusan Secures $567M Supply Deal for Eiger Express Pipeline
Turkish industrial giant Borusan has secured a $567 million sales agreement to supply large-diameter pipes for Eiger Express Pipeline, a major natural gas pipeline project in the United States.
The deal, announced by Borusan on Wednesday, August 27, marks a significant win for the company and strengthens its foothold in the American energy sector.
According to the company’s filing with Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform, the pipes will be produced at Borusan Berg Pipe's facilities in Mobile, Alabama, and Panama City, Florida, with deliveries scheduled throughout 2026.
Borusan's announcement comes after it previously disclosed that there were ongoing negotiations, but did not name the counterparty until this week.
The Eiger Express Pipeline, slated to begin service in mid-2028, is a 450-mile, 42-inch-diameter natural gas line designed to transport up to 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Permian Basin, one of the world's most productive shale gas regions, to the Houston area.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the project aims to alleviate transportation bottlenecks and support both domestic supply and liquefied natural gas exports from the Gulf Coast.
Borusan is a leading Turkish industrial group founded in 1958, with operations in 11 countries.
The company first entered the US market in 2014 and later expanded its presence in April 2023 with the $162 million acquisition of Berg Pipe Group, a US-based subsidiary of a German steel pipe manufacturer, EUROPIPE GmbH.
The new agreement is expected to significantly boost Borusan Berg Pipe’s 2026 turnover and reinforce the group's position in the US energy infrastructure market.
