Tenaris, a provider of steel tubes and related services, has been awarded a contract to supply thermal insulation coating for the Mero 4 oil and gas project in Brazil's Campos Basin.

The company announced last Tuesday it will coat 81 kilometers of risers and flowlines with its TenCoat™ Marine 5LPP Solid and Syntactic coatings.

The qualification process expected to occur throughout 2024 and deliveries made in 2025.

Once coated, the pipes will be transported to Espírito Santo for spooling and assembly before final offshore installation. Mero 4 marks the fourth major risers and flowlines project in Brazil using Tenaris-coated pipes in the last five years, following Bacalhau, Búzios V, and Mero 3.

"Our expanding presence in the thermal coating sector, combined with our global pipe supply capability, positions us as a key partner in the pre-salt," said Renato Catallini, Tenaris president in Brazil.

"We are committed to offering value-added solutions that contribute to the development of one of the most challenging exploration and production environments in the world."

The Mero field, located at a water depth of 2,100 meters, is the third-largest in the pre-salt region. It is operated by a consortium led by Petrobras in partnership with Shell, Total Energies, CNODC, and CNOOC.
