German utility software manufacturer, PSI Software SE secured a significant contract from Swissgrid AG, the Swiss transmission system operator, to implement a cutting-edge network calculation system known as EMS Core, based on PSIcontrol 4.10, PSI announced in a press release.

The new system will revolutionize the management of Switzerland's transmission grid by enabling complex network calculations, including dynamic stability assessments, with the goal of enhancing grid security.

Known for its effectiveness, the EMS Core System will empower Swissgrid to perform intricate network calculations throughout the entire Swiss transmission grid, assessing and optimizing grid security as needed.

With its capability to project grid scenarios up to 72 hours into the future, the system will allow for proactive measures to be developed and recommended to operational staff in the event of critical grid conditions, ultimately preventing potential crises.

Swissgrid's selection of PSI's software solutions was driven by several factors, including the software's extensive update and upgrade capabilities and a track record of successful implementations with leading transmission system operators (TSO).

This contract marks another milestone for PSI as it expands its presence among European transmission system operators, further solidifying its dominant position in the DACH region. The project is expected to span 27 months.
