Saipem has secured a significant $1.9 billion contract from TotalEnergies for the subsea development of the GranMorgu project off the coast of Suriname.

The five-year project, expected to yield the first oil in 2028, will involve the installation of approximately 100 kilometers of subsea production flowlines (pipelines) and 90 kilometers of water and gas injection lines.

According to Saipem’s announcement on Thursday, November 14, the project’s work will be executed at depths ranging from 100 to 1,100 meters, with the company expected to employ a combination of S-Lay and J-Lay vessels to execute the offshore campaign in 2027 and 2028.

The company will also collaborate with TechnipFMC to optimize the integration of the subsea production system, flexible risers, and umbilical equipment packages.

This contract marks Saipem’s entry into Suriname’s offshore market and reinforces its position in South America. It also contributes to the company’s long-term project pipeline, which will extend into 2028.
