Port Canaveral Backs Major Pipeline Project to Ensure Reliable Fuel Supply

Port Canaveral backs a new fuel pipeline project to ensure reliable fuel delivery at the already bustling hub for cruise ships.
Port Canaveral, which handles over 3 million tons of fuel across the state, is supporting a proposal for a pipeline connecting the Space Coast to Orlando International Airport.
The new pipeline initiative is designed to mitigate potential fuel shortages, particularly during severe weather events like hurricanes or fog that can disrupt fuel shipments from Tampa.
“If a hurricane or fog shuts down shipments, Orlando International, with its high air traffic, could face fuel shortages,” Port Canaveral CEO John Murray said in a statement, emphasizing the importance of the project.
While the port is not directly constructing the pipeline, it is actively advocating for it and collaborating with the Florida Department of Transportation to expedite its development.
Port Canaveral is poised for significant financial growth, generating over $200 million in revenue by 2025. The port plans to allocate a substantial portion of these funds towards further infrastructural upgrades and improvements.
