Petronas Gas Forms Taskforce to Probe Major Pipeline Incident & Aids Affected Community

Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB), on Friday announced the formation of an independent task force to investigate a recent pipeline fire incident in Putra Heights and oversee recovery efforts.
The taskforce, headed by an independent non-executive director, will ensure the company's operations maintain the highest safety and integrity standards.
In a statement, PGB said the taskforce will provide strategic oversight for the post-incident investigation, recovery and restoration work, as well as the safety of gas transportation infrastructure, and other related matters. The task force will also support the board in ensuring independence and transparency throughout the process.
"PGB fully recognises the critical role of the gas pipeline infrastructure in transporting natural gas to the power generation and industrial sectors in Peninsular Malaysia," the company stated.
Restoration work is progressing at the incident site, including sheet piling for soil stabilization, site excavation, and repairs, the company added.
According to PGB, its top priority is public and operational safety, and it understands the significant impact of the incident as the company focuses on restoring gas supply access. PGB also reported providing over RM1.2 million ($273,348) in immediate financial assistance to individuals and families who experienced total or partial property loss due to the incident.
This aid is intended to ease their burden during this difficult time.
"The company will continue to cooperate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to determine the cause of the incident and to restore the pipelines while remaining unwavering in its support of the government’s community rebuilding efforts,” PGB said.
