TC Energy Corp.'s NGTL gas pipeline system in Alberta resumed normal operations after a rupture last week, Reuters reported on Tuesday, April 23, citing the company’s spokesperson.

The rapture, which caused a fire last week, prompted the company to reduce pressure on a segment of the line, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The NGTL is TC Energy's natural gas gathering and transportation system, which transports gas produced in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) to markets in Canada and the United States.

Although the pipeline has resumed operations, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the rupture, which sparked a wildfire in a remote part of Yellowhead County.

"We have stood down our Yellowhead County incident emergency response and transitioned to the repair and restoration phase," a TC Energy spokesperson said.

The company’s spokesperson also assured that they are working with regulators to get to the bottom of the problem while also ensuring the safe operation of the conduit.

As PTJ reported last week, the rapture occurred 40 kilometers northwest of Edson, sparking a fire that was later extinguished. The affected pipeline was isolated and shut for repairs and investigations to determine the possible cause of the rapture.
