Libyan Gas Pipelines Shut Down Again
National Oil Company (NOC), the Libyan state oil company, said an unidentified armed group has blocked gas pipelines from the Wafa oil field in Libya to a local power plant and the Mellitah gas export terminal on the coast.
This comes on the heels of the lifting of a force majeure edict imposed by the NOC on Wafa and said that its pipelines were open for operations.
The Wafa closure is part of broader disruptions of Libya's oil production, which since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 has been hit by the country's factional infighting, Islamic State militant attacks and political protests.
