Iraq has not yet received formal notification from Turkey regarding the readiness of the oil exports pipeline to commence operations, despite recent assertions from Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

According to a news report published by Reuters, two senior Iraqi oil officials announced that Turkey was yet to notify Baghdad about the resumption of the stalled oil exports, emphasizing that the lack of official communication has left the Iraqi Ministry of Oil in the dark about the status of the pipeline.

"We, as the oil ministry, need to be informed officially by the Turkish side about the recent developments on the pipeline status. We heard about it in the media only," an unnamed senior oil ministry official told Reuters.

A second senior energy adviser, who also requested anonymity, also informed Reuters that Iraq is still awaiting discussions on "lingering financial and technical issues" related to the pipeline's operations.

Turkey suspended the flow through Iraq's northern oil export route following an arbitration ruling in March by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which ordered Ankara to compensate Baghdad for unauthorized exports that occurred between 2014 and 2018.

The pipeline, responsible for contributing approximately 0.5% of the global crude supply, has been undergoing maintenance since then.

While awaiting the completion of a maintenance assessment on the pipeline, which traverses a seismic zone, Baghdad and Ankara have mutually agreed to halt operations, pending the outcome of their legal battle over arbitration awards.

According to the senior oil ministry official, Turkey's energy minister is expected to visit Baghdad in the near future, with the resumption of Iraq's northern oil exports expected to be a prominent topic of discussion during the visit.

The specific date of the visit remains undisclosed.
