Investigations are underway following a fire incident at an underground gas pipeline in Russia's Omsk region on Tuesday. According to local authorities, the blaze, reported during repair work near the village of Rostovka, was contained, adding that it posed no danger to residents.

Regional Governor Vitaly Khotsenko confirmed the accident on the Telegram messaging app, stating that emergency services were on site to deal with the incident.

"There is no danger to residents of the Omsk district or other localities in our region," Khotsenko wrote.

Russia’s TASS state news agency, citing the Omsk region's security services (FSB), reported that the fire was sparked during scheduled repair work on the pipeline.

"The blaze has been contained," TASS quoted the FSB as saying. "There were no casualties. The circumstances and causes of the incident are being investigated."

The Omsk region is located in southwestern Siberia, approximately 2,200 kilometers (1,370 miles) east of Moscow and hosts a significant portion of Russia's vast network of energy infrastructure. Therefore, such pipeline disruptions are closely monitored.

The initial reports provided limited detail on the extent of the damage or the exact time the fire began. Further information is expected as the FSB and other investigative bodies examine the precise cause of the accident on the crucial energy line.
